Increasing support for right-wing parties and policies in Europe is affecting higher education and research

Parties associated with the far right were once firmly on the political fringes in Europe, but recent elections have changed that. 

In Italy, Fratelli d’Italia—a party with neo-Fascist roots— is part of a coalition government, while the far-right Finns Party entered Finland’s government in June. Sweden’s conservative minority government was only able to take power in October thanks to the support of the Sweden Democrats party, which has neo-Nazi origins.
