Governments call for evidence-informed debate while seemingly already having reached settled views themselves
A dozen EU member state governments have issued a note calling for a science-led debate on the development of lab-grown meat substitutes, while already expressing the view that such food-production is “not sustainable”.
Delegations from Austria, France and Italy devised the note, supported by those of nine other member states, and submitted it for discussion at a meeting of the Council of the EU governments on 23 January.
