The European Parliament will push to triple the budget of Erasmus+, the EU’s academic exchange programme, after agreeing that a funding shortfall is hampering participation.

In a vote on 16 January, 489 MEPs said they were in favour of trying to triple the Erasmus+ budget for the EU’s 2028-34 financial period. Only 62 MEPs voted against and 61 abstained.
