MEPs bow to €2bn cut from Horizon Europe

Member states push through slashing of 2021-27 EU research and innovation budget

MEPs have bowed to the heads of EU governments and agreed to cut the remaining budget of the bloc’s 2021-27 research and innovation programme Horizon Europe.

However, the cut agreed by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU member states is €2 billion, according to a Parliament spokesperson—fractionally less than the €2.1bn sought by the member states.
