New structure agreed for ERA policy agenda

European Research Area will now include time-bound and more open-ended priorities, university group says

A new structure has been adopted to decide how future priorities will be incorporated into the European Research Area policy package, according to some of the universities involved.

The ERA is a decades-old initiative for raising research standards across the EU, including by harmonising rules and processes in different member states. There are 18 ERA priority actions for 2022-24, which were selected in part to re-energise an initiative that was starting to lose momentum.
