Former Horizon 2020 rapporteur Maria da Graça Carvalho takes up post in Portuguese government

Maria da Graça Carvalho, who has been a prominent member of the European Parliament’s research committee for more than a decade over two stints, has resigned as an MEP to take up a role in the Portuguese government.

Carvalho (pictured) announced on social media on 3 April that she had been appointed environment and energy minister by Portugal’s newly elected minority government. This is her second spell in government, having previously served as science and education minister from 2003 to 2005.
