Campaigners “confident” EU will hit 3 per cent of GDP target amid “strategic autonomy” drive

Backers of a campaign to increase investment in research and innovation across Europe are “hopeful” of its success, arguing that extra spending is needed to stop the EU falling behind global competitors.

R&I organisations across Europe—including universities, research groups, funding agencies and industry partners— have banded together ahead of June’s European Parliament election to form the Research Matters campaign, which has two main aims.
