EU member states set to encourage proportionality on research security measures
EU member states are set to agree that their research security measures should be “proportional” to the threat, as their aim is to “manage rather than avoid” collaboration with other countries.
A draft Council of the EU recommendation on research security, published on 6 May, says that safeguarding measures on research security should “not go beyond what is necessary to mitigate the risks at stake and avoid any unnecessary administrative burden”.
