Academics predict smaller shift right for European Parliament

European election results now forecast to be less radical than previously expected

The European Parliament is set to become more right-wing as a result of this month’s election, two academics have reasserted—but they have toned down their predicted size of the shift.

Simon Hix and Kevin Cunningham, who both hold several academic roles focused on politics, published an update on 3 June of their predictions for the European Parliament elections taking place on 6 to 9 June.
