Lack of representation in the European policy-making process could negatively impact the development of data-driven start-ups, a think tank has said.
The European Digital Forum, part of the Brussels-based Lisbon Council think tank and Nesta, an innovation charity in the UK, published the Data-Driven Business Models policy brief on 14 November.
The brief says proposed rules such as data protection could block the development of data-driven start-up business models and decrease employment and growth in Europe. European companies based on a data-driven business model have emerged using open, enterprise and personal data, they say, and this environment is endangered by more stringent regulation.
