Greens demand access to glyphosate studies

The Green and European Free Alliance group of MEPs has filed a case with the European Court of Justice to obtain access to studies on the safety of the herbicide glyphosate.

The Greens/EFA request that the assessments used by the European Food Safety Authority on the safety of glyphosate be made public after the Commission announced that it intended to reauthorise the weed killer for a further 10 years.

The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer found in March 2015 that glyphosate was most likely carcinogenic to humans. However, EFSA and the European Chemicals Agency have both stated that this is not the case.
