Nanomaterials observatory website launched

The European Chemicals Agency has launched a website providing information for researchers, regulators and the public on the nanomaterials available on the EU market.

The European Union Observatory for Nanomaterials website, which the ECHA launched today, will provide information on research and regulatory activities related to nanomaterials as well as health and safety issues. The website launch is the first phase of development of the observatory, which will eventually carry out its own studies and draw on information from external databases and publications.

Geert Dancet, executive director of ECHA, said that the aim of the website was to have a “reliable source of information” on nanomaterials. “They are used in many everyday products and it is therefore important that workers and consumers in the EU have access to objective and easily understandable information on nanomaterials,” he said.
