Bulgaria has become part of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, which advises policymakers on biodiversity.
The country has become the 127th national member of the intergovernmental body, which is administered by the UN Environment Programme.
Ipbes’s mission is to “strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, long-term human wellbeing and sustainable development”. It aims to be scientifically independent and to provide “policy-relevant information, but not policy-prescriptive advice”.
