The European Commission has called on research groups and public authorities to test a set of guidelines for the ethical development of artificial intelligence.
The guidelines were developed by a group of independent experts appointed by the Commission to support the implementation of a European strategy on AI.
Published on 8 April, the guidelines cover seven broad areas: human agency and oversight; robustness and safety; privacy and data governance; transparency; diversity, non-discrimination and fairness; societal and environmental wellbeing; and accountability.
