Institutes ‘still too opaque’ on research animals, survey finds

  

Less than a third of European institutions using animals are sharing data and explainers online

A review of more than 1,000 websites run by institutions that use animals in research has found that less than a third share statistics on such practices or feature a ‘frequently asked questions’ section.

“Overall, the sector remains at an unsatisfactory level of openness and transparency,” said Kirk Leech, executive director of the European Animal Research Association, which advocates for the humane use of animals in research, and which carried out the review.
