Project to tackle privacy implications of sharing personal data
Three organisations representing European learned academies have teamed up to consider how health data could be better shared outside the European Economic Area to boost related research.
“Substantial challenges remain for data sharing outside of the European Economic Area,” the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (Allea) said in an announcement on 4 May. “In particular, there is a lack of non-consent-based transfer mechanisms that can be used for sharing personal data with public institutions in other countries such as the US.”
