Coordinator of medical regulators wants joint EU action on trial data

European body says it cannot “impose standards” on regulators to ensure trial sponsors report results

The umbrella body for national medical regulators in the European Economic Area, the Heads of Medicines Agencies, has said it wants to work with other European bodies to ensure that clinical trial sponsors register their results in an EU database in accordance with the bloc’s laws.

But a spokesperson for the HMA said it was not able to force regulators to adopt standards for how they should push sponsors to report their results, as trial transparency advocates have campaigned for.
