Rule changes agreed to attract skilled migrant workers to EU

Bloc to reduce salary requirements and make it easier for migrants to change employer

The EU has agreed to tweak its rules to make it easier for highly skilled workers from elsewhere—such as people in the R&D sector—to migrate to the bloc.

Amendments to the ‘blue card’ system, agreed on 17 May, will make the EU more attractive in the “global race for talent” and address skill gaps by removing some barriers to migration, the European Commission said.
