US seeks to restore data transfer route with EU

President Joe Biden signs executive order to implement March data deal

The president of the United States has signed off on actions implementing a deal with the EU that is intended to make it easier for organisations in the country and bloc to share data, including for research.

Transfer of data between the EU and US has been particularly hampered since the bloc’s top court struck down a data transfer agreement between the two, called Privacy Shield, in July 2020.
