Regulator voices concerns over new EU-US data transfer deal

Commission asked for clarifications over deal intended to replace two previously scrapped by courts

The EU’s data regulator has voiced concerns about the latest deal intended to restore data transfer between the bloc and the US for activities including research.

Transfer of data between organisations in the EU and US has been hampered since the bloc’s top court struck down a previous agreement in 2020, having also struck down a similar one five years earlier.
