Auditors to probe EU’s semiconductor policies

                      

European Court of Auditors will investigate effectiveness of measures to more than double production share

EU auditors have announced plans to probe the bloc’s policies on semiconductors—the essential enablers of digitisation that have become a concern for politicians around the world due to their socioeconomic importance.

The Covid-19 pandemic and geopolitical instability forced the EU to reassess its access to semiconductors, which are used in electronic devices ranging from phones to cars and medical technology, the European Court of Auditors said this month.
