Position appears to confirm desire for only €1.5 billion new funding, lining up institutional tussle
The EU has moved closer to agreeing on the setup of its planned fund for supporting strategic technologies, but there continues to be a gulf between its institutions over the size of its budget.
On 11 January, the Council of the EU governments agreed a partial position on the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (Step), which is intended to use existing funding instruments to support digital, green and biotechnologies.
