EU consults on changes to use of lab animals

Proposal would affect conditions for certain aquatic and avian species, in light of new evidence

The EU has called for feedback on proposed updates to its rules on the use of animals for scientific purposes.

The proposal addresses living conditions for zebra fish; passerine birds, which is more than half of all bird species; and cephalopods, covering squid, octopi and cuttlefish.
