European Parliament signs off ‘landmark’ AI law

      

Rules are intended to support artificial intelligence innovations while keeping them aligned with European values

The European Parliament has signed off on a new set of EU laws intended to support the development and use of trustworthy artificial intelligence technologies.

The “landmark” AI Act “aims to protect fundamental rights, democracy, the rule of law and environmental sustainability from high-risk AI, while boosting innovation and establishing Europe as a leader in the field”, the Parliament said on 13 March.
