Government calls for study into gender equality in research

The Swedish government announced on 9 November that it has asked the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education (Högskoleverket) to look into the data available for determining gender equality in the distribution of research funding.

“Sweden must utilise the skills of both male and female researchers. I hope that the feasibility study will contribute to individual teaching institutions’ efforts to integrate a gender perspective in the allocation of funds,” said Nyamko Sabuni, the minister for equality and deputy minister for education.
