Council supports Björklund’s medical research proposals

The Swedish Research Council (VR) has welcomed proposals by Sweden’s minister for education to boost medical research in the country's dedicated research bill due to be published this autumn.

Jan Björklund’s proposal, published in an op-ed in newspaper Dagens Nyheter, followed a decision by Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company to sack 1,200 of its medical researchers based in Sweden.
