Minister pressured over AstraZeneca cuts

Sweden’s minister for industry Annie Lööf has been questioned by her opposition counterpart over the recent decision by AstraZeneca to sack 1,200 R&D staff from its site in Södertälje.

In an open question to the minister on 15 February, Ingela Nylund Watz asked on what measures the minister intends to implement to protect not only the staff involved but also Sweden’s reputation as a research nation.
