The MAX IV project—the latest addition to the MAX light source laboratory in Lund, southern Sweden—has withdrawn a request for more cash after succeeding to reduce costs, it announced on 21 September.
Last month, the laboratory appealed to Lund University and project funders including the Swedish Research Council, innovation agency Vinnova and provincial investment agency Region Skåne for 232 million kronor (€27.5m) in extra funding.
