New institute takes shape in old AstraZeneca labs

SP Process Development, the new research institute that will take over pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca's old lab space in Södertälje, will open on 1 February 2013. In addition to renting the premises to the SP, AstraZeneca will also donate 600 laboratory instruments to the new institute.

The institute is a spin-off of the SP Swedish Technical Research Institute, a company owned by the Swedish government. The new institute will do R&D relevant to many industries, including the car industry, forest industry and pharmaceutical industry.
