Architects present designs for Stockholm’s Nobel Center

A total of 11 architects have submitted design proposals for the planned Nobel Center on the Blasieholmen peninsula in Stockholm.

The evaluation of the proposals will end in November, followed by a presentation of those projects that will proceed to the second stage. The winning design of the future Nobel Center will then be presented in April 2014.

Last spring Sweden’s largest research foundations—Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, and the Erling-Persson Family Foundation belonging to the chairman of fashion retailer H&M—secured 800 million Swedish kronor ($122 million) for the construction of a science centre scheduled to open in Stockholm in 2018.
