Sweden to boost research in electric power

Elektra, a programme between the Swedish Energy Agency and electricity companies, is putting 25 million kronor (€3m) into 21 electric research projects to boost development in the industry.

Research projects will look at how the integration of renewable energy, such as wind power, can ensure that a stable system is maintained, as well as how optimising hydropower can increase power capacity.

“The electrical power system is undergoing major transitions within a rapidly growing IT field,” a spokesman for the Swedish Energy Agency said. “Collaboration between the industry and academia ensures that the research is both of high quality and relevant.”
