ICT growth fuels Swedish economy

Information and communications technologies are among the fastest growing technology fields in the Swedish economy.

A study produced by Vinnova shows that between 2007-2011 ICT industry in the country grew by 13 per cent.

The study, written by Eric Giertz and Monia Lougui from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Per Levén and Robert Sörensson from Umeå Universitet, shows that Stockholm is the hub for the Swedish ICT-sector. Businesses in Stockholm employ half of all people working within the information and communications technology sector in Sweden. The overall number of ICT employees in the country is 160,000.
