The Swedish government has appointed psychologist Lena Adamson to be the director of Sweden’s newly established education research institution, the Skolforskningsinstitut.
Adamson is an associate professor of psychology at Stockholm University, and is also undertaking work within the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s climate and digital branches to improve the quality of masters and doctoral training.
The creation of the Skolforskningsinstitut was announced by the former research minister Jan Björklund on 3 December 2013. The institute will carry out research on education to improve the evidence base and increase the effectiveness of teaching, said the minister.
