The government has given UKÄ, the Swedish Higher Education Authority, a mandate to evaluate the research done at Swedish institutions.
UKÄ, which focuses on evaluating higher education, will now also lead research quality assessments, the government announced on 6 July. UKÄ and the Swedish Research Council will work together to propose ways in which various agencies monitoring and evaluating institutions’ activities can better coordinate, it said.
Additionally, UKÄ will develop ways to monitor early-career researcher employment, including those on fixed-term contracts.
