Nordic universities throw their weight behind Plan S

The Nordic University Association has backed Plan S, an initiative to boost open-access publishing.

Suhf, the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions, announced on 8 October that the Nordic University Association (NUS) has endorsed Plan S. Under the plan, funders will demand that researchers they support make any resulting research papers openly available immediately from 2020 onwards.

The NUS warned that meeting this timeframe would be a challenge, including for individual researchers. It encouraged its members to help ensure that any concerns from academics are addressed.
