Stockholm is Sweden’s best-educated city

The citizens of Sweden’s capital are the most highly educated people in the country, with more than a third having completed at least three years of higher education, a survey has shown.

A government survey released on 19 April showed that Stockholm is the best-educated city in the country, while Lund, Lomma and Uppsala are also high on the list. Umeå, a university town, has highly educated people but few of them are long-term residents, the survey found.

Stockholm came out as winner due to its cornucopia of industries in need of professionals, including finance, education and defence companies, said Statistics Sween. The most well-educated municipality in the country was the Stockholm borough of Danderyd, where nearly 60 per cent of people had done an undergraduate degree.
