EPFL investigates alleged research funding fraud

The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, EPFL, has launched an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of 218,000 Swiss francs (€208,000) from its Blue Brain Project.

The Swiss public television RTS revealed on 9 June that the EPFL has suspended an administrative staff member of the BBP neuroscience research group, who has been accused of embezzlement.

The BBP, funded by the Swiss government and led by the neuroscientist Henry Markram, aims to develop a virtual human brain simulating hundreds of millions of neurons.
