Graduates unprepared for work, says OECD

A report from the OECD has warned that many students graduating from university still lack an “attractive profile” for potential employers.

The report, published on 27 May, said that 10 per cent of new graduates have poor literacy skills and 14 per cent have poor numeracy skills. The OECD said that education providers and the business sector must work together to design qualifications that will match graduates’ skills with their prospective jobs.

It also recommended that a work experience should be better integrated into both vocational and academic higher education programmes.
