The next Framework programme should support regional partnerships aimed at boosting economic growth, an association of European universities of applied sciences has said.
Universities of Applied Sciences for Europe published a position paper on Framework 9 on 18 September. One of its recommendations was that the programme should fund regional collaborations between universities of applied sciences, other universities, businesses and local government authorities and agencies.
Such partnerships would increase the impact of research and innovation projects, the association claimed, because it would be “demand-driven, addressing the questions and the needs of society”. UAS4Europe has already started developing such collaborations, it said, calling them smart partnerships for regional impact.
