The Wellcome Trust, the Volkswagen Foundation and the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation have announced funding for six research groups to tackle global challenges.
Each foundation will fund two projects, the Wellcome Trust announced in a press release on 12 September. A total of €5 million has been awarded across the six interdisciplinary research groups.
Representatives from the foundations will meet the EU’s research commissioner Carlos Moedas to discuss how philanthropy can contribute to Horizon 2020, the announcement said.
