The paperless life

Informatics professor Per Flensburg has published only two papers in his career. He tells Antoaneta Roussi how he spent a lifetime not worrying about citations.

In academia, where journal publications mean everything, Per Flensburg is a rare Pokémon. At 71, he has spent 44 years in academia and has published only two papers—one of which he co-wrote—in international peer-reviewed journals.

Flensburg, who specialises in information systems, admits that his career is “rather exceptional” and understands that it would be difficult to replicate today.
