A deputy dean, two lecturers and a faculty secretary have been killed in an attack at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in north-western Turkey, and a research assistant has been arrested.
The victims of the shooting, which took place on 5 April, were named by the university as Mikail Yalçın, deputy dean of the education faculty; Fatih Özmutlu, the faculty’s secretary; lecturer Serdar Çağlak; and assistant lecturer Yasir Armağan.
The suspect, who has been identified by some media reports, seemed to have been motivated by a personal dispute, the university’s president Hasan Gönen told reporters, according to the Washington Post newspaper. The suspect had been the subject of a university investigation, Gönen said.
