Publishing platform aimed at reducing use of animals launches

The UK’s National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research and the company F1000 Research have launched a publishing platform for the results of NC3R-funded research.

The NC3Rs Gateway, which launched on 15 May, will feature methodology articles, literature reviews and research data describing how the use of animals in research can be reduced, refined and replaced.

“NC3Rs has previously described a 3Rs “valley of death” between the development of new 3Rs technologies and approaches and their subsequent uptake into practice,” the organisation said in a statement. “This lag is influenced by a range of factors including a lack of information in the published literature on 3Rs approaches such that awareness of their utility can be poor.”
