Role of English language on campuses should be considered, says university briefing paper

At a time of increasing internationalisation, academic institutions must put in place concrete, top-down language policies, according to a briefing paper from the League of European Research Universities published on 20 November.

“At all times have language skills been key to academic education and scholarly publications at higher education institutions…this is becoming more rather than less important,” says the paper by Bernd Kortmann, chair of Leru’s Social Sciences and Humanities Policy Group.
