ERA requires stronger national R&D systems, universities say

   

Group also demands more of a role for universities in shaping European Research Area

The European Research Area initiative for enabling researchers and knowledge to flow freely across borders needs to adapt to emerging needs, but without losing sight of its core aims, according to a group of universities.

Improving national and European frameworks for scientific excellence should therefore remain the ERA’s focus, the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities said in a position paper published on 4 March.
