Museums asked to join global coalition to protect biodiversity

Researchers also called on to raise public awareness of ‘biodiversity crisis’

The European Commission has asked science and natural history museums, national parks, zoos, aquariums and botanic gardens to join a new global coalition aimed at raising awareness of the need to protect biodiversity.

The coalition was launched on World Wildlife Day, 3 March, ahead of a UN meeting on biodiversity due to take place in October. Individual scientists, as well as businesses, non-governmental organisations and regional authorities are also being encouraged to “play their part”.
