Universities ‘can help tackle serious teacher shortage’

Role in pre-university education is ‘integral’ to research-intensive universities’ mission, group says

Higher education institutions must help address a “serious shortage” of pre-university teachers in Europe, according to the League of European Research Universities.

“All universities have as their mission serving the society that supports them, directly or indirectly,” said Ortwin de Graef, director of the Doctoral School of Humanities and Social Sciences at KU Leuven in Belgium and lead author of a paper published by Leru on 12 March.
