‘Disruptive measures needed’ for gender equality in research

  

Europe’s research organisations should use positive discrimination to reach gender equality, project recommends

Organisations that fund or carry out research should give preferential treatment to women to advance gender equality, according to Gender Action, a research project focused on equality in the European Research Area.

“The speed of change is too slow,” researchers working on the project said in a policy brief they published on 14 May. “To initiate substantive change for the coming years, disruptive measures need to be applied both by the European Commission and the [EU] member states through coordinated action.”
