Association tells UNESCO that ‘systemic, cultural and technical reforms’ are needed for open science
The European University Association, which represents more than 800 higher education organisations across the continent, has joined the Global Open Science Partnership run by UNESCO, the UN Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
The partnership is working towards a recommendation on open science, which is set to be adopted by UNESCO’s 193 member states in 2021. Open science is the process of making research methods and results openly available for input, scrutiny and re-use, and is intended to get maximum value out of research and make it more publicly accountable.
