Integrity training ‘should be mandatory’, event hears

Everybody in research from technicians to senior academics ‘must learn’ about best practice, say funders

Training on how to conduct research with integrity should be an integral part of researchers’ education and should be mandatory to receive grants, senior staff at research funders have said.

Funders should “consider making research integrity training a mandatory, qualifying criterion to apply for funding”, Maura Hiney, head of evaluation and targeted programmes at Ireland’s ‎Health Research Board, said during a panel discussion on research integrity held on 15 March.
